About the Artist

Katy is a Sussex based artist and illustrator, inspired by the relationship between nature and humanity.

Often inspired by her local Sussex landscape, flora and fauna, each piece is created with a story or character in mind. She loves to see how the narrative or character develop through each brushstroke.

There is a certain magic to be found amongst the natural and man-made environment of her locality. A wonderful mix of folklore, ancient geology, big skies, sweeping waves and the rolling downs. This creates an inspiring backdrop from which to conjure up the people and the tales which move from her imagination onto the paper.

Katy has been lucky to spend time in a range of locations across the world including India, Canada and Australia, from which she also draws inspiration.

Katy creates her pieces using watercolour and ink on archival quality paper.

Katy has created some more whimsical illustrations such as her Passport Photos series which is inspired by the characterful wildlife and pets she encounters in her daily life.

From August 2024, you can find Katy's prints and a selection of her original artwork in Petworth Pop Up, High St Petworth, West Sussex. You may also spot her more whimsical illustrations on the Wildtye children's tees in store.
